In 2016, our first ever FAW Cycle Challenge was a roaring success! 15 riders mountain biked 480km in 30 hours from Oudtshoorn to Durbanville non-stop to raise funds and awareness for Fisantekraal Animal Welfare mass animal sterilisations.
The riders set off from Oudtshoorn at 6AM on 21 May and arrived at Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville the following day just before 12.
We smashed through the original target of R20 000, and raised over R35,000 for animal sterilisations in the township!
We’re so grateful to all who rode in the challenge, drove support vehicles, sponsored much-needed support items, and networked and donated to raise this phenomenal sum of money.
We had some really amazing people riding to raise funds for us, along with the wonderful support people driving the vehicles, providing food, keeping watch on the riders, etc. And, of course, the awesome sponsors. Each one is truly fantastic, just by participating in this event to raise much-needed funds for animal sterilisations.
THANK YOU to each and every one of you. Note: All funds raised were for FAW sterilisation programmes. Each rider pays his/her own way.
