Sandy had a horrible start in life – given by a Boerboel breeder (we assume because she turned out to not be a 100% Boerboel) to someone who we know doesn’t look after their animals, and then chained up and neglected. She was skin and bone when we uplifted her.
She went to our friends at UARC to be rehabbed and, although she did well, gained a bit of weight and came out of her shell, she really struggled with kennel stress.
Unfortunately, dogs like Sandy are very challenging to home – people think they are vicious or maladjusted (when they usually are not) – or you get the type of people who are just looking for a ‘bully breed’ for the image.
So, Sandy needed a VERY special home. The kind that doesn’t come along very often – not for dogs like her.
And against the odds, that one-in-a-million home has found her. Her new family have fallen completely in LOVE with this sweetheart. And she is even more in love with them. She spent her 1st night indoors wrapped up in a blankie on a bed of her very own (after falling asleep in her new dad’s arms). Our hearts are so happy.
THANK YOU SOOOOO much to the Bonthuys family for opening your hearts to her. She is going to bring you so much joy.
Go well, Sky – be happy.
